MedReleaf hopes to fill Canada’s cannabis prescription and more.

On April 1st of this year, a new set of medical marijuana regulations took effect in Canada. The old program dated from 2001, and under that guidance the number of Canadians authorized to grow marijuana for medicinal purposes expanded from a couple hundred participants to more than 40,000, and according to Health Canada, the agency fielded numerous public health and safety concerns about cannabis grows from mayors, fire chiefs, police officials and citizens, so through Parliamentary action lawmakers changed regulations in Canada’s Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and as of April 1st, individuals can no longer grow their own medical marijuana and must purchase it from a Health Canada-licensed producer with a prescription from a physician.
