Strapped Coachella Valley cities embrace marijuana tax dollars, buck trend

California is a patchwork of regions that allow or ban the cultivation and sale of cannabis under the state’s medical marijuana laws, and recently the Desert Hot Springs City Council bucked a state-wide trend when they voted unanimously to repeal a ban on cannabis businesses.  Nearby Palm Springs recently approved its fourth dispensary, and Cathedral City is considering permits for three, and  thereby the Coachella Valley has emerged as the cannabis center of California’s Inland Empire … for a clearer picture of marijuana happenings in the Coachella Valley and across the state, CRN’s Brian Bahouth spoke with, Lanny Swerdlow, a registered nurse, Founder of the Brownie Mary Democratic Club and long-time marijuana activist in California …
